How to Operate a Snowblower

Anyone who lives in snow country knows that the snowblower is one of the most time- (and back-) saving inventions of all time.

Step1 Decide which of the two types of snowblowers you need. A single-stage blower whirls the auger at high speed. A two-stage blower with a slower-moving auger has more power.
Step2 Get your snowblower serviced before snow falls.
Step3 Check the engine oil level, clutch, blower system, and chute positioning before starting.
Step4 Spray the discharge chute with silicone spray before use to reduce clogging.
Step5 Blow snow the natural direction from the impeller, usually to the right.
Step6 Check wind direction and work with the prevailing wind direction.
Step7 Avoid backing up; work in circles instead.
Step8 Try not to avoid blowing snow twice.
